Quantomics

Quantomics is a large collaborative research project exploring From Sequence to Consequence - Tools for the Exploitation of Livestock Genomes. Quantomics encompasses 17 leading research groups and businesses from 10 countries and is co-financed by the European Commission's 7th Framework Programme. The project began on 1 June 2009 and will run for 4 years.

The sequencing of the genomes of the major livestock species places animal agriculture on the threshold of a new era. In Quantomics we have selected a set of technologies and tools to maximise our ability to bridge the gap between trait variation and DNA sequence and hence remove current bottlenecks in selective breeding and identification of causative polymorphisms.

As new datasets are produced (independently of their submission to public repositories), this list will be incremented:

• EPO mammalian alignments (based on Ensembl release 57)
• Mercator-Pecan alignment (Ensembl release 59)
• Quantomics Ungulate Whole Genome Alignments
